It’s Always Sunny Renewed Up To Season 14

Much more Charlie work to come.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia just made TV history, and I’m not talking about the time Mac made the questionable decision to black up to play Roger Murtaugh in their homemade Lethal Weapon 5. FX has renewed the hit comedy for another two seasons which means it’s now tied with The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet as the longest running live-action sitcom of all time.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia recently concluded their eleventh season and shows no sign of losing its edge after more than a decade on the air. Unbelievably, many people have still never heard of the show despite every episode being available to stream on Netflix.

FX’s co-President issued a short statement about the landmark renewal.

“If anyone doubts the power of a camcorder and a dream, just look at It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which was a DIY backyard pilot when Rob, Charlie and Glenn brought it to FX and will go down in TV history as one of the most loved and enduring comedies. Few shows make it this far or have such devoted fans, and we owe it all to the creative vision and great humor of the creators and cast who keep Sunny fresh and inventive every season.”

Created by and starring Rob McElhenney, Sunny is the best example of an anti-sitcom ever to be produced. The characters don’t grow; they don’t learn from their mistakes and underneath it all are deeply self-involved people who are a danger to themselves and everybody around them. Starring Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito, if you’ve never seen Sunny do yourself a favour and binge watch the lot right now.
