Trailer Trash: Man Of Steel (2013)

The first teaser for Zack Snyder’s take on Superman has now been released, and the makers sure are keeping a lid on the story-line. The Christopher Nolan produced blockbuster stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, and the young Brit caused quite a buzz at Comic Con last week where the trailer was greeted with huge applause.

Given this is only the first trailer and the movie is still in post production, there’s not much to get excited about yet. When Superman Returns debuted its first trailer, there was a genuine epic scope for the legendary character. Bryan Singer’s love letter to Richard Donner’s original remains an underrated classic in its own right, but it failed to take off at the box office. Due to a high price tag Singer’s Superman was deemed a flop, add to the mix licensing rights and it was only a matter of time before the dreaded reboot was mentioned.

Christopher Nolan and his Batman co-scriber David Goyer bashed out the story and script, so expectations are naturally sky high. Kevin Costner, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Laurence Fishburne and Russell Crowe feature in the movie, expect a full length trailer in the coming weeks, but we’re still a painfully long 11 months away from release.
