Comic Con Marvel Update

Marvel fans got extra special news and treats at Comic Con yesterday, the first footage of Iron Man 3 drew a huge crowd and the sneak peak was incredibly well received. There was also the teasing statement from Kevin Feige about the possible appearance of Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner:

“You remember how he jumped in the car with Tony. Well, Tony dropped him off at the Port Authority and we’ll see him again someday.”

There were also some hints towards Pepper Potts getting her own suit, “Everyone thinks it would be the coolest thing in the world to see Pepper get a suit at some point.”

Edgar Wright has long been attached to direct Ant-Man, he has been working on the script with Joe Cornish for a few years now and he tweeted recently that he had been filming a top secret little something. Whilst it’s not a surprising announcement it’s great to have it finally confirmed, a couple of minutes of test footage was shown and fans couldn’t be happier. No casting decisions have been made but we’re holding out for Nathan Fillion.

Elsewhere Thor 2 and Captain America 2 have now received name changes, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Solider. Both these new titles suggest to a change in tone for the sequels, but no plot points were given during the event.

Finally, Guardians of The Galaxy has been given the go ahead and will be in cinemas August 2014 (same summer as Cap 2). Kevin Fiege confirmed the line up for the movie:

Star-Lord -Once an astronaut called Peter Quill who becomes an all-powerful galactic cop.

Rocket Racoon - The leader of the Guardians,

Gamora – The adopted daughter of Thanos.

Drax The Destroyer -A powerful alien who seeks to destroy Thanos.

Groot -A highly intelligent living plant.

Phase Two of Marvel Studios plans seem well underway and that’s not even including the Avengers sequel. What a time to be a geek.
