First Picture of Ben Whishaw As Q in Skyfall (2012)

Making his debut Craig era appearance in the forthcoming Skyfall, gadget-master Q is finally getting a look in. Desmond Llewelyn played Q in 17 Bond movies beginning with From Russia With Love (1963), his final appearance was in The World is Not Enough (1999) and John Cleese was introduced as his replacement.

Ben Whishaw (Nathan Barley, Perfume and The Hour) might seem like an odd choice, but the young actor looks more than capable of filling such big shoes.

Ben Whishaw has previously worked with Daniel Craig three times over the years, The Trench (1999), Enduring Love and Layer Cake (both 2004).  This should help with that cheeky rapport we know and love from Bond and Q.

Since Daniel Craig squeezed into those tiny tiny swimming shorts in Casino Royale, there’s been the absence of a certain iconic Bond character. Miss Moneypenny was last seen in Die Another Day played by the very aptly named Samantha Bond. Despite rumours that Naomie Harris was playing Moneypenny in Skyfall, the actress herself denied these claims.
