News: Clarice Series to Air on Lifetime Channel
A few months ago it was announced that a TV series of the early life of Hannibal Lecter was in the works by NBC. Little is still know about the series, but what was clear was that it wouldn’t feature FBI Agent Clarice Starling.
The Lifetime Channel is currently developing a new series based around Clarice, and the self titled show will follow her early days when she was fresh out of the FBI academy. The prospect of two rival shows based on Thomas Harris’s books is an interesting one, but don’t expect any Buffy/Angel style crossovers as they are broadcast on different networks.
NBC’s Hannibal will premiere this autumn and will focus on the relationship between Lecter and Will Graham who was played by Edward Norton in Red Dragon and William Petersen in the vastly superior Manhunter.
No word yet on casting or producers for Clarice, but expect the pilot to be with us before the year is out.
