Silent House & Shooting People Competition: Make an 88 Second Short

May 01, 2012 1 Comment by

Based on Gustavo Hernández’s real time chiller La Casa Muda (The Silent House), the team behind Open Water bring the American remake Silent House to the big screen.

Shot in one continuous take Elizabeth Olson stars as Sarah, a young woman who becomes trapped inside her father’s lakeside house along with Uncle and Father as strange goings on start to occur.

The real time set up might have been done before, but the element of the movie being shot in one take is intriguing.  To celebrate the release the makers have teamed up with www.shootingpeople.com and have created a rather brilliant competition.

Make an 88 second short film in one continuous take, and your movie could be featured on the DVD of Silent House when it’s released later this year. You can get the full terms and conditions and more details here;

If like us Jellyfielders you make films, or even if you just have a camera, a neat idea and a bunch of mates then you’re in for a treat.

How To Enter:

- Upload your film to shootingpeople.org, then send the URL along with your name and contact details to silenthousecompetition@thinkjam.com under the subject line of ‘Shooting People Silent House competition’

- As the film is set over 88 minutes, your short must be no longer than 88 seconds.

- Deadline for entries is midnight on 20th May 2012

A short list of five entries will be sent to the directors Chris Kentis and Laura Lau to judge, and the winning entry will be featured on the DVD release of the film later in 2012. On top of this prize the winner will also receive an Unlimited Card courtesy of Cineworld.

Good Luck.

Silent House is out in cinemas May 4th.
