Hunger Games Passes $500M at the Worldwide Box Office

The Hunger Games has now been sitting at the top of the US box office for 4 weeks in a row. This weekend also saw the movie pass the $500m mark at the worldwide box office, overall it’s current takings are $531m so membership to the $1 billion club is still on the cards.

Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard’s much anticipated The Cabin in The Woods came in third, having seen the movie I would urge Whedon fans to go see it before the secret is spoiled. Debuting with a respectable $14.8m in the US, the movie won’t be making Avengers sized money but it’s fair to call it a success.

I won’t even talk about The Three Stooges making over $17m.

Next week you can hear myself and Jim on a special The Cabin in The Woods Podcast, but be warned it contains spoilers galore.
