Sin City 2 Finally has a start date

After months of hearing bits and bobs about the long-developing Sin City sequel, even us hardcore fans have started to believe it wouldn’t ever happen.

Even the recent news from Robert Rodriguez himself did little to make us believe it was going to happen this year. Well it’s certainly nice to be proved wrong.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is now officially on the move, the man had this to say about the forthcoming sequel;

“The first question I’m always asked is ‘When will you make another Sin City?’” says Rodriguez in the press release. “I’ve wanted to re-team with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original, but we have felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations. A Dame To Kill For will certainly be worth the wait!”

Casting the movie begins next week, but expect to see some Sin City favourites as well as a host of new characters. Whilst Marv does appear in one of the stories it’s still unknown if Mickey Rourke will be returning to the role that helped bring his career back from the dead. The script has been written by Frank Miller and William Monahan (The Departed) and Miller is expected to co-direct once again.

Filming starts this summer so maybe just maybe a summer 2013 release isn’t such a crazy idea.
