Yesterday Whedon fans were treated to either a lovely bit of news and a surprise announcement, or a cruel hoax. Nathan Fillion tweeted out a link, the link was to a website that only contained this picture.
Fans of Whedon’s work will spot some names they know, in addition to Nathan Fillion there’s Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof amongst the cast. From the way the cast names are laid out it looks like Acker will be Beatrice and Denisof will play Benedick. Even Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) is brushing up on his Shakespeare to join the cast. A host of other actors from previous Whedon shows are filling out the supporting roles.
It might seem and odd choice but it’s said that the film is already completed, quite how Whedon found the time to go off and make it whilst shooting The Avengers is anyone’s guess. It’s an unlikely choice for Whedon but maybe Kenneth Branagh inspired him, he has also directed Much Ado About Nothing and of course the superb Thor.
I hope it’s real as any extra Whedon is good and adapting The Bard, as soon as any more details are released we will be sure to keep you updated. Besides who else but Joss could do it, other than Ken.
